Located in a lovely office overlooking False Creek in Vancouver, Melina is a registered clinical counsellor and member of the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors. She has a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MA) from Yorkville University that included a special focus on trauma, family, and cross-cultural counselling. She also has a Master of Arts (MA) and a nearly completed doctorate (PhD) in English from Western University that focuses on understanding immigration and diasporic literature in Canada through the lens of psychoanalytic and cross-cultural theory.

She has been involved in a number of writing and editing projects and university and community-based arts and literature organizations. Her recent professional development includes study groups (WBCPS) on early childhood development (2021-2022) and on disorganization in early relationships (2024,) a seminar series (WBCPS) on Basic Psychoanalytic Concepts (2022,) and presently includes a weekly peer supervision group (2021-ongoing).
